BETHESDA, Md. - Montgomery County Police are investigating the death of a person found inside a burning vehicle in downtown Bethesda early Monday morning.

The burning minivan was found straddling the raised median at the corner of Bradley Boulevard and Arlington Road.

Police say they got a call around 4 a.m. for a car on fire. When first responders arrived, they found the minivan fully engulfed in flames and the driver still inside the car.

Investigators are not clear at this point what caused the fire or what caused the driver's death. It's unclear whether the person was a man or woman.

There did not appear to be any major front-end damage to suggest a crash. But police say it's too soon to say whether they suspect foul play.

An autopsy will take place Tuesday.
