Woman run over by own vehicle in 'freak accident'

ANNANDALE, Va. - A 71-year-old Annandale woman is dead in what police call a "tragic freak accident."

The woman put her 2005 Honda Pilot in reverse in her driveway and then got out of the SUV, and was run over by vehicle, Fairfax County Police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell says.

Police later identified the woman as Emma A. Cabrera

A neighbor found Cabrera, who saw the vehicle idling at the home on Charles Hawkins Way and went to investigate around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Police say Cabrera died at the scene.

Cabrera was a longtime resident of the neighborhood and was on her way to work.
