COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- A brawl at a College Park bar could lead to disciplinary action for members of the University of Maryland football team involved in the altercation.
The fight broke out just after 1 a.m. Tuesday at the Cornerstone Grill & Loft on Route 1.
The dispute occurred when bouncers tried to intervene with a player after he allegedly groped a female patron, according to The Diamondback, the university's student newspaper.
Prince George's County Police say no arrests have been made at this point, but the investigation is ongoing. A source says a bouncer injured in the fight is expected to file a report with police, which could eventually end up in arrests.
Maryland Football Coach Ralph Friedgen said he still unclear about the details of the incident.
"We have team rules that have been violated," said Friedgen. "Right now, I am doing all I can to uncover the total facts -- at the proper time, I will comment on them."
The identity of the players involved have not been released, but the university and police are investigating.
The university acknowledges students and players were at the bar, but cannot confirm whether university student-athlete code of conduct has been violated until after the investigation is complete.
